ABOUT ABOUT

A four-part workshop series co-hosted by LSE’s International Inequalities Institute and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation

This four-part workshop series responds to the findings of a review of literature (forthcoming, 29 April) on the effects of frames on the public understanding of and engagement around wealth inequality.

The series explores how we can use what we know about the effects of frames on preferenceformation to develop more radical and impactful strategic communications on wealth inequality.

The format for each workshop is the same: two conversations and a collaborative activity. Each conversation will be introduced through three or four ‘provocations’ by experts from the media, campaigning organisations, and academia. These provocations will kick-start a focused conversation around a particular theme. The group will then work together to collaboratively develop and refine a ‘key terms toolbox’ for talking about wealth, the wealthy and wealth inequality, and to author principles for impactful and ethical framing and storytelling.

Each workshop is accessible as a stand-alone event, but together they will work progressively towards this end.

The workshops are open to people working in social change organisations, the media, and academia, with a shared interest in how wealth inequality is communicated and the effects of framing techniques on building public engagement and political pressure for change. They are participatory.
